I hadn't heard production like that when it came out, loads of the parts were played with the tape running at half speed so it sounded freaky at normal speed. The way we work nowadays probably makes it sound quite normal now but at the time...

Call Of The West by Wall of Voodoo

Totally twisted, dark and comic and completely original. If you've never heard this album, run out and buy it immediately!

Penthouse And Pavement by Heaven 17

Oakey went off and Made Dare while Marsh and Ware teamed up with Glenn Gregory to make this gem. Let's All Make A Bomb is one of those tracks that takes you to aural heaven...er, 17.

I always liked the edgier stuff more than the hairspray stuff, eg:

Richard H. Kirk from the Cabs was a fucking genious, and went on to do some great techno tracks in the 90's as Sandoz and R.HKirk.
