It's a pretty simple setup - I programmed sections of the set as individual sequences in the MPC and the MNM, and used track mutes on each to build the arrangements live, plus a mixer with a delay pedal on it to do some dubby delay drops.
For sync - I had the MPC as master clock out to the MNM, and at the beginning of each sequence I send program change messages to the MNM.
Basically - on the MPC - I had on average 4-6 drum tracks set up, everything from machinedrum samples and various other perc libraries; also some other various sounds (pads, piano, rhodes, some basses) and using the Track Mute page, muted and unmuted tracks in there.
On the monomachine - I built up the melodic components, as well as some massive sid pads, and over each section I build up the tracks, unmuting each until I hit the full arrangement, then break it down from there.
My next set, I'm going to set up the machines, but not do any prepared sequencing and do it all live improv style
I find I work well that way with the monomachine - I've done a couple of 4-6 hour jams with just the MNM and MD, but with the MPC on hand now I can throw alot of other stuff around
Thanks for listening everyone! I feel bad that this isn't an actual recording from the gig, but I had a couple of problems getting audio recorded, and even then with some of the house PA problems I had some false stops and stutters going on that broke the flow.
