Creating drums with the MnM. 19 Years, 2 Months ago
To start off, I don't own a MonoMachine.
How do you create a drum pattern on it?
Do you have to use all six tracks for every single part of the drums?
(e.i. track 1=BassDrum, track 2=snare, track 3=Hi-Hat, etc..)

The MnM is an advanced x0x sequencer. You can only have one note playing at a time on any given track. That being said, there is a lot you can do with parameter locks, synthesis parameters, and track effects.

I usually use 1 track for drums, and program them with a lot of detail. Perhaps there is a stutter on one hit, delay on the next, and panning on a few more. Sometimes I use 2 tracks for drums, but I've found lately that I can get more interesting results by using one of the other machines for an elektro-style arp as a hi hat line, for example.

There are several BeatBox examples here:

So, have you ever done this?

I'm listening to the track I'm working on, using the function key and track keys to mute parts in and out. Then by mistake a finger lands on "clear" while I'm still holding function, wiping out all my patterns. ugh.

I requested this before in the OS. I wanted to have an "are you sure yes/no" pop up. I know they want it as spontaneous and fluid with the MD (and MnM) as possible but it would be a nice feature for the "clear" function.

I agree...how often would you really want to clear the pattern in a live situation anyways!

this is yet another thing that would be nice to control in the global slots - a memory protect feature. On both machines!!!
