The actual crossfader and scene selection does send midi cc so it is possible with some clever patching/programming to have parameters on external devices to react with scenes but this is as close as you can get.
aww bummer.... it would be really cool if the midi did work with the scenes. I have to use a controller for that.
since the scenes and crossfader do spit out midi is their a way to change the cc numbers that it spits out???? I dont think their is at least not on the OT.
somewhere in the manual it says the CC# of the fader.. which is recognised and send.. if my memory does not fail me. if you get a device called a midipal. you be able to patch this between your octatrack and your "other device" and make it translate the fader-CC coming out of the octatrack in something usefull for your "other device"
The reverse should be true aswell.. if your "other device" has a learning functionality. or more simply put "a way to tie some CC to some function within the device" u should be able to enter the faderCC and use it as a controller.. E.g: instead of using a joystick for the monomachine. tie joystick control to faderCC within monomachine.. (still on my todo-list.. but so busy)
So yes, you can have midi-fun with the fader.. but not exactly from "inside the octatrack" and you need smart gear / convertor
