Been a bit quiet on the music making front, but here's two new tunes!

The first is a simple house track I made in about an hour.

Both recorded live from the noisy headphone output of my Nintendo DS, using a piece of software called Korg M01. My Allen & Heath DJ mixer does a bit of filtering to keep things interesting.

You are caning that DS! You do know corporal punishment has been abolished!

The kick and the bass are pretty low, so they might be hard to hear with smaller speakers.

Stumbled into the DS forum No seriously gr8 tunes, what app/s is this?

The app is called Korg M01. Basically a portable version of the (in)famous Korg M1 workstation, with some extra sounds and drum kits thrown in. Unfortunately, the sounds aren't really that editable and I've used all the good ones multiple times by now.

However, I'm planning on buying a new studio in the near future, featuring at least an OT and an A4, so more professional sounding music is bound to happen. Working with the Nintendo has taught me many things though, since it doesn't sound that great you're kind of forced to write good, or at the very least decent, music with it and you can't just hide behing giant delayed dub chords or huge kicks.

Didn't know such even existed! Too bad I don't have a 3DS yet, only a 10 year old 1st generation one, gonna check that one out if I ever buy a new DS.

Nice trax again Barfunkel, that third one would have slot right in on Kiss FM with Colin Dale abstract dance on the radio! Nice work, don't be offended when I say it has that old school charm, defo the 90s and better for it!
I have a tracker type prog on the 3ds but I forget the name, it's chip tune, which has it's place but limited if you want more scope.

Ever thought about an OP-1? You would kill it stone dead.

Definitely not offended by the bolded part, 90's is where I'm aiming at, techno and house sounded so great back then. Don't care much for harsh modern styles, it's either older stuff or stuff inspired by the older stuff that I mostly listen to.

Haven't really thought about an OP-1 really, for some reason that box never really seemed that interesting to me. Any specifically good youtube videos and such I should be checking out?

As a bonus, here's a short excerpt of a new Nintendo-tune I'm working on. Not sure if it works or not, the rhythm is a bit weird and the melodies are basically just placeholders until I create something better.

Edit: The filter comes from an Allen & Heath DJ mixer, there are no filters of any kind in the Nintendo app.
