I created a nice kick and hi-hat last night, but am having trouble making a snare. Well I got one but it's just not that snappy. Any advice?

Yes, I asked for a separate noise filter almost as soon as I had got my A4, there are 8 blanked out encoders on the noise page.....

Thanks for all the replies, I have started work on this and it is probably going to take a little while, since the A4 is not really designed for drums I'm having to find a few workarounds for certain types of sound, some of which I have not thought of yet.

Actually, I am one of those preset dodgers you speak of but... Drum analogue drum sounds are different I think. I reckon I'd be interested actually. Good start points to tweak are pretty useful and also it would be nice to get some really nice ones sampled into the MD too.

I agree 100%. It is that simple. The user interface is intuitive enough that sounds that interest me could be reverse engineered very quickly. Everybody has a ( very different ) way of learning. That price is right!
