so I'm a little late and I didn't do too well with the 3 minute rule...

first thing I've made entirely on the OT. really learned a lot doing it. I played around with the sample off and on last week, and then tried to stitch the different parts together. only one PIPO loop glitchout on this take...

if anyone's up for another exercise, I think it would be cool to make the limitation something to do with the machine's capabilities... use only two step patterns, compose from a muted loop with recording trigs only, etc. or maybe some kind of round robin resampling scheme...

Hey really good skills RHIZOME, I just got to the bit where the beats kick in... I like.

I've been hopeless at getting anything close to the standard of this or other people's submissions and not through lack of trying either, but I think I will try to be less critical of myself and upload something soon. After all, it's all in the name of science!

Unfortunately, I've just seen this Science Lab today. Anyway, one week left I will give it a try . When listening to the already submitted tracks ... I'm always wondering how this could be possible! Let's see what the result will sound like.

Weell, here it is - 'Billy Screams No More'. Glad to be able to join in on this lab. After I had ordered my OT earlier this year, my first Elektron machine, I started scouring EU to learn what I could and spotted the white noise lab and was blown away by the entries, only to be let down that the lab deadline had long since passed. Props to HUSC for suggesting another one, and everyone else that has joined in. Wasn't long after digging in to the OT that I ordered an MD, because I was so impressed with Elektron's technology and the capabilities of these user-friendly machines. Having two machines gave me almost too much to think about writing wise, so the lab was my que to focus on just one for a while - thanks for that. I've definitely learned a lot, making me wish there were more hours in a day!

Gotta say I haven't heard any entries her that haven't made me think or inspired me to do more. Great subbmissions all around! Looking forward to the next lab(s) and a challenge to learn more and push my own limitations - the style of what came out of this isn't something that I would have come up with otherwise. It's made me think outside of my box-shaped mind. Thanks for that, too. Enjoy!

Here's one from me...

(Sorry, it's over 5 mins, but I really wanted to get something up here before my A4 arrives on Monday).

I've been having so much fun with this science lab and it's really taught me a lot about the Octatrack. Many thanks to HUSC for starting it

As an aside, I found it quite hard to get a decent hat sound out of the sample... anybody got any tips there?

Here is my "track" https://soundcloud.com/lo-mate/lo-mate-warbirds. I experienced the same troubles when trying to get a nice hi-hat. It sounds more like a bird chirp . I also had some problems getting a nice snare drum out of this sample. Wasn't that easy . But it was really fun to create new sounds out of a scream. Thanks for the Science Lab. Didn't expect to be possible with the Octatrack.

Good one lomate!

I think I must be sick in the head... my a4 arrived, but I just had this yearning to say goodbye to Wilhelm before getting lost in analog land.

Fffffeeeewwww... just in time:

Been so distracted lately, haven't spend any quality time with the octatrack. The above is an arranger sequence of some of the sounds I came up experimenting in between distractions

It was fun, I could polish it more, get more out of it, but that was not the point of this lab. I got to know a lot of new features and tricks on the octatrack and only scratched the surface of what is possible.

I have written out my plan for a new octatrack lab, but for now I'm going to make myself a drink and listen to all the entries in this one, because you all made AMAZING sounds and songs, thanks for that! It leaves me in awe..

We'll have good holidays with a lot of love, peace and positivity and I'll drop a new octalab next year..
