I am getting frustrated with my pretentious multiple pattern three minute masterpiece, so I imitated you this afternoon, no gym, but drones. Not even close to the quality of movement and texture variety of yours Amanita, but I had a good time and realized I forgot about drones:

It's two tracks manually triggered once and inf. retriggered at the same base frequency, I modulated pitch, filter and both tracks have two chorus effects with slow modulating delay times. I discovered the power and potential of the chorus effect and the subtle things that happen if you cascade two of them.

Sounds good to me! Drones are fun on the OT for sure. I cant see me ever using the OT as a looper or live but its very creative when you dig into it. Its one of my least used bits of kit and i really must put it to more use. Cant wait to put the A4 along side now...

I am thinking of a new octalab for after we finish this one the 21nd of December. I'll try to work out a completely different approach than the 'one sample' rule. The combination of set limitations and friendly competition is what helped complete musical genres mature and we should do so nowadays with technology, and thus the octalabs.

Nice drones gents, I often end up starting a drone track then adding beats, then making the drone rhythmic, then have it playing notes then ooops no more drone

I think it is a very interesting genre and it sure takes a lot of patience in both creation and listening to fully appreciate, in many ways it reminds me of acid, love it.

Re the next lab, yes I think the single sample idea is done now and is not such a limitation, maybe we need to come up with some other limitation/constraint.

This was quite fun. I've got a month in on the OT and this is my 1st recording with it. I never could have imagined the possibilities and I've barely scratched the surface.

Killer drones and great tips Husc and Amanita, thanks for this. I'm down for future labs, since I'm having so much fun and learning a ton on this one. Getting close to recording as of today.

I'd also like to see a future lab that explores a different aspect of the OT other than the one sample limitation. Features I would like motivation to explore: different track lengths, One main audio track with recorders and playback on the other tracks grabbing and playing bits, one audio track one bar continuous loop and all neighbor machines on the rest.

Even with the one-sample limitation you can still do all that.
