I must be missing something - how do I enable the Midi input for transport control and external clock?

Full midi implementation is not yet baked into the OS. for now there is only midi sync out.

Now for my question..
I want to record one bar from a static machine that is on track 1 and load the resuting resample into a flex machine on track 2.
Can someone give me an ABC on how to do this? The manual is leaving me a little confused about recording..

[Track]+[MIDI] and you send the source of track 2 recording to track 1 (i think, i tried this yesterday and it seemed to work)

Not sure if anyone noticed this yet, or even mentioned it already.
I think most of us thought 16 bit only, but:

From the manual download:
AUDIO FILE COMPATIBILITY
The Octatrack can handle different variants of audio files depending on the type of machine used.
Static machines can handle 16 bit/44.1 kHz wav and aiff files, either in mono or stereo.
Flex machines can handle 16 or 24 bit/44.1 kHz wav and aiff files, either in mono or stereo

OS 0.99E
So I tried using 24 bit/44.1 kHz samples in Flex machines, but most of the time I do get errror in the sample slot.
Sometimes it worked and sometimes only after rebooting the OT, but then I also get a neverending scrolling bar on the display often, because the OT seems to have problems loading 24bit samples.
I couldn´t even load a different project as well often, because > a neverending scrolling bar wouldn´t let me.
So I did "thru" on each track then to finally be able to load a different 16 bit project again.
24 bit doesn´t seem to really work....yet.

I´ll write a bug report to elektron.

This thread is complete fail. Read the title "Answers Sticky...". What's up with all the questions. If you have questions start a new thread and email Elektron support.

No one is going to read through 11 pages of a so called Answers Sticky when its 85% questions. Get it together or I'm deleting the thread.

Thanks!

Come to think about it, we may want to make this a locked thread with one master list. All 'Answers' could be PM'd to any of the mods and we can update it. think about it...

A bit about the OT gain structure: (OS .99E)

-at default levels the OT plays back a 0dB sample at -10dB
-increasing amp [VOL] to 64 will play the sample at 0dB
-a thru machine at default volume settings will play at -21dB
-input [VOL] at 64 will play the thru machine at -9dB
-input [VOL] at 64 + amp [VOL] at 64 will play the thru machine at 0dB
-recording from external source will play back at -10dB
-amp [VOL] set to 64 on recorder track will play back at 0dB
-an internal source recording with default settings will play at -28dB
-amp [VOL] on the internal source recording at 64 will play at -9dB
-no further gain is "currently" available for internal source recording
without using either a neighbor track or a compressor to increase the volume.

(this isn't necessarily 100% correct) I'm also hoping Elektron does something about the gain reduction when recording from an internal source.
