Hey man, before I begin, let me just say I'm not a patch expert, nor am I much of a sound designer, I just mess with stuff until it sounds right to my ears. I make acid techno, and I use the A4 for the pads and the 303ish acid lines. The A4 will not sound like a 303, but it can be used to create cool acid lines. I've saved a dozen different patches for 303 type sounds, because one patch may sound good only in one octave/key, but not work for a higher/lower key. Also for tweaking the filter cutoff, I use a performance setup, as the tweaking will only sound sort of authentic for roughly 20 to 30 units, so I set this as a limit. Anything greater than the set limit/threshold will just create this sort of washed out wall of sound. The only parameters I tweak during performance and recording is the FRQ & DEP. All other parameters are sort of set when I craft the sound. I'm sure they could be used live, but I haven't had much success with anything but the RFQ & DEP. The other thing is the note slide function doesn't really mimic the 303's too for longer note slides (greater than 1 step). I've had better luck setting the note with the OSC TUN parameter, and using a parameter slide from one note to the next. Again, I only use this for areas where the note slide will stretch greater than 1 step. If it's less, the slide & accent function work well

Cheers

Mike

For an example of a parameter slide used for a long note slide, the link below shows this in action. The note slide would not do this, so I set the note with the TUN knob and parameter slide the 2 trigs (the 2nd trig being a triggerless trig only carrying the not information of which the 1st trig should slide to. This is roughly crude, but it created the effect I was going for.
Cheers
