I've tried using song mode but it gets kind of hectic when you, for example, make a 8 step break on the MD. If you do that, the MD's song will be 8 steps behind the MnM's song (although the song-pointer thing works perfectly, it just gets confusing when you're writing the damn song).
I just have my MD synced to MnM and then I use pattern mode and mute/unmute tracks, as simple as that.
But that takes time off your hands so you can't really do anything else, like playing solos, tweaking effects, etc.
I just wish Elektron would make a Song-Mode application for the computer so you could do it on-screen.
