I was jamming out on the monomachine today with my new Korg Kontrol 49. I was psyched because I had just set up all these scenes to control the SFX-60 from the 49. Suddenly I noticed a strange smell. I looked down and to my surprise the monomachine was emitting smoke!!!! It fizzled and shutdown right after that before I had a chance to turn it off. After about an hour I was brave enoght to turn it back on and it seemed to boot up fine. I have only owned the machine a couple of months so it really has freaked me out. I have contacted support and I am sure i will hear from them tommorow. I have much confidence that a small boutique company like this will take care of their clientele. I will keep you all posted. I am sad to think I will have to send my machine overseas and be without her for a couple of months and I was going to entert this March contest too. Oh well, at least it will be fixed (i hope)

yikes - you never want to see the magic smoke come out!

hopefully something just got hot and did not burn up in there. Usually the powersupply is what goes bad.

but if it works it works - bang out something for the contest and then send it in for service.

I am just leary of turning it back on and using it and doing irreperable damage to the unit. I love my MnM and I don't want to kill her. Maybe if I'm lucky and hear back from them tomm. I can get it out and back from them before the end of the month.

I hope it's just the power supply! That should be an easy fix.

I hope so too for your sake. Maybe just a resistor that heated up because of a flaky something or other.

is there any case out (beside the big rifle cases for the sfx-6) which has the right size for the machinedrum & the small monomachine (sfx-60)?

well technically this is a rifle case but this is an excellent case and it will fit both the MD (UW) & MnM SFX60.

Pelican also makes smaller cases that'll fit a single MnM SFX60 or MD.

I'm using an old camera case... works great.

I've even managed to fit the original foam packaging in there as well.
