hmmmm.... so just enough improvements to make older users feel like their machines have been devalued? if they are taking the time to redesign the machines what about: internal power supply, usb port, recessed jacks for better racking and why not put that beautiful joystick into the new mnm? i am saddened. :-?

MKII hardware wise... still there are some major points missing:

USB or FireWire: for use as a host on your DAW

..and fuck around with drivers for a year? No, thank you.

Daniel H had a long post or email about why Elektron wouldn't include digital clocks - it seemed well reasoned and thoughtful. Buy better converters.

Better potknobs: they are still plastic, why not alunium like the new Waldorfs
Three color led style: from the MM also on the MD
Better graphics: for parameter visuals like on this video: Waldorf Blofeld for the filter, envolopes, LFO's and maybe waveform editing.

Apart from the shitty red display, what's lacking in the graphical displays? What would you use a three-color LED for in the MD, when there are no trigs? Finally, I think it's only fair to hold off on the Waldorf comparisons until those synths actually exist. I'm sorry if I sound curt, but there are typically good reasons why the Elektron kit does what it does {or doesn't what it doesn't}.

Typically, mind. Not always, but not in these cases.

That wasn't his assertion, either.

Well, it is just a MKII update so don't bother and did you watch the Waldorf video?

Just a thought, but do we know for sure this was done because of poarts availability? Seems a lot of people turned speculation into gospel in this thread.

And really, for those that are upset, all it would take is Elektron chiming in real quick with a:

" Hey guys, we know some of you are going to be upset, but we had to do this due to (pick one)

- parts availibility,
-we need revenue to stay in business,
-it's things we've wanted for awhile ourselves"

Etc. Those quick posts from Elektron have always calmed things down here, would be nice to see something from them now

Tarekith, I posted the info about parts, availability, etc. This is confirmed info, as I heard it straight from Elektron. if for some you still question my information, feel free to email Elektron yourself. I'm not speaking for Elektron, anything I've shared as been relayed to me directly from Elektron and I have asked for permission to share here.

not sure what else you're looking for Tarekith, but i'd direct your queries to support@elektron.se

sidenote: i'm not a fan of hearsay. trying to be the best admin i can be through all this :-D

So, I sent this email to Jon in response to the one he sent me earlier:

Hi Jon,

I just wanted to point out one more thing to you. Did you guys not consider the fact that rather than upgrade my SPS-1 to a UW, I would probably rather upgrade to a UW MkII? In other words, I would have sold my SPS-1 and then used the $700 (upgrade + shipping) I spent on the UW MkI upgrade to buy the MKII. In effect, what you guys have done is both cost yourselves about $1000 and left me with no reasonable option (monetarily) to move up to the MkII. Kind of a bummer.

I know you guys like to keep in touch with your userbase, and I felt it necessary to make these points to you. Make no mistake, I still love your products (I also have a SFX-6), and can't wait to have my MD back!

Do I sound bitter? :-D

Of everyone bitching...I think you have the best case.
