your totally thru not about buying do

I am glad I bought one it is a work of art I only state that the offer being made to the elektron friend is a little strange
I can get a discount of 119 euro i already have one md

I just want to get a option if their is no turning back to replace the old md with the mk2 for a better offer
i just dont want to pay the full prize again and again

if they said that i could trade it with a extra cost i will pay the extra 119 euro not pay 1081 euro !!!

but your right with outdated elektronics just i hope this is not the end for my best friend and I cant wait what the new os
got in store for me and probably I am jumping the horse here
about prizes and all I just
I am sorry but its just weird

I don't have a problem with the new MKII's, I just hope Elektron fix any bugs in the MnM classic and implement some feature requests in the next OS update.

Really, I think that, although it was probably not possible to do, Elektron could have unveiled the MK2s at the same time or just after an OS update, so that present owners would have something to get excited about.
I guess in the ideal world, Elektron could have tinkered with the code enough that the two units sounded really different from each other, that way there's no question of obsolesence.

Anyway, User Wavetables! I think I'd feel much more put out as an MnM owner than an MD owner (Sorry MnM people).

Well, I didn't really think it was gonna happen, but it has and I can understand why (part supplies, etc.). OTOH, it's not really what I was thinking when people were saying MkII. I was thinking of a much more drastic upgrade. This doesn't make me flinch a whole lot. The 64 steps would be great though.

BUT what of my MD that is in Sweden right now? I must say that is the one thing that really kinda disappoints me. I am assuming that it will come back to me as a MD-UW Classic. I would think that before I plunked down $500 (plus another $200 for shipping!), Elektron would let me know that there was about to be an MkII version coming out. I could have spent that money on an MkII after selling my SPS-1 Classic.

And before someone says it: it's not that the UW Classic won't be cool and I won't enjoy the hell out of it, it's that I could have gotten the new features for a relatively similar price. And Elektron would have made more money in the process! I'm a little confused on why they have offered those upgrades.

Has anyone already plunked down for MkII versions and put your Classics up for sale?

Ideally what will happen is that it will come back with 64 step patterns, thus demonstrating that the Mk1 can take the new OS and not leaving you feeling like you've been given a bit of a short deal.
Even if it doesn't, you'll have the UW Mk1, which will keep you plenty busy, and there should be this OS update coming soon...

That was kind of my point too. Current Elektron users are their MAIN advertising force, we all hype up the gear we love so much all over the net and gigs. Surely they could have foreseen that this was going to upset current owners who bought a drum machine from a boutique supplier who had previously stated that they would never release new products that made their old ones redundant? Would have been better to wait until any OS upgrades for the classic stuff (man I HATE saying that about Elektron gear!) were ready to go. Makes everyone happy, and not like we're not used to waiting for stuff from Elektron.

Other option would have been to just make the new ones identical to the old ones with the new spec'd parts. I could see maybe the 12mm difference and power supply being new, but once you add new features, especially those we'e all asked for for so long, well.... ????

How could they not see this was going to upset their user-base? And why not retain the 12mm hieght, but include the TM-1 functions built in?

We shall see. I have also emailed Elektron concerning the matter.
