Who is really pleased with their studio monitors... 18 Years, 3 Months ago
...when you play your MD through them? If you are, let me know what you are using.

I am in the market for a pair.

Thanks.

Genelec 1032's flush mounted with a 7070 Subwoofer. The MD just sounds fat... But so do most things on those speakers.... which is why I still have a pair of NS10's to do some cross reference and a pair of shitty computer speakers for the same reason... A friend of mine uses the Dynaudio BM 15A which also cut it quite nicely...

yep -- i use KRK v6s. You might want to check out this thread: http://www.elektron-users.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=827&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&start=0

that thread might get you on your way towards a solution (if that's what you're looking for). the upshot is that I still have the KRKs -- I adjusted the output so that it was hotter, and I noticed a big improvement in the quality of the sound (not sound quality -- the sound great except for the bass reaponse, which is kind of weak on them).

Paper:

Thanks.

Shame the V6 KRKs (without the sub) are a bit lacking on the bass response, particularly given the great low-end sounds coming out of the MD...

You might want to look at something with an 8" woofer.

Yes, agree. KRK V8s are of interest, yet so are the Dynaudio 5As given I have a small 20' by 15' home studio.

Also contemplating the Mackie HR624.

Would prefer to keep in under $750, but gotta have bass response...

I'm very happy with my Dynaudio 6's. They cost more than I'd hoped to spend on monitors but they sound great and I don't think I'll ever outgrow them. They have huge bass response too - more than enough for a home studio.

lots of fans of the dynaudios. . . hmm, my birthday is in a few months.

K -- do you find that the dynaudios are enough to keep up with the low end of the MD? i mean is it a good balance (not over bassy) i can hear the bass great on my headphones (believe it or not). but when i switch over to the krks, i definitely miss the low end.
