K -- do you find that the dynaudios are enough to keep up with the low end of the MD? i mean is it a good balance (not over bassy) i can hear the bass great on my headphones (believe it or not). but when i switch over to the krks, i definitely miss the low end.

i use ADAM P11 and i am very happy with them, also got a pair of this smallest Genelic with the Sub 1090 (i guess). At the end it is allways a good idea to listening to your mix on the cheapest speakers you can find, an small radio or tapedeck. The endmix have to sound still good on this ones too, in some cases...

They are definately enough, even the smaller ones produce an extremely nice bass response. I was really surprised when I heard the 5 A's. But as I said I've spent more time with the 15A's and you get a serious amount of low end. Still my genelec setup with the subwoofer is off the hook. I have a handy bipass switch for it and like to occasionally check the real low end with them. The two mid field monitors go through the subwoofer and it acts as a cross over, filtering the frequency's below 80hrz and feeding them to the sub. Anything above 80hrz goe to the midfields which I flush mounted. This gives a really accurate sound if it-s done correctly cause it avoids the dips in frequency caused by reflections off the rear of the speaker. I guess it's like with any system, you got to have it set up correctly. They have to be in a symetrical position in the room, your mixing position should never be dead centre in the room, cause that's where you get the worst reflexions. Have the speakers set like an equillateral triangle, slighty angled towards you.... be conscious of whats behind you, but also obstacles between you and the speakers.... it's not all about the speakers....

Hi everyone,

This is my first post. Great site.

BM6A here. For me very detailed and with enough bass to
feel a balanced response. Always tempted of getting a Subwofer
for the low end of my stick, but happy til now.
As for the MD I can't say too much... for the moment. This week
I've just ordered a MDUW and a MnM from Elektron. Hope they show up
here next Wednesday (if UPS track info can be trusted).
Then I will tell you, but from what I read here they will sound
wonderful.

Again, great site. In fact you guys (girls?) have some responsibility on
my decision to buy the Ktrons. Lot of practical info that is not easily
extracted from the manuals. Not having tested neither of the bots
doesn't help too much. Yes, this is a closed-eye purchase. As always. Although I've heard the constest songs. Good help and good work.

bye

Thanks regarding input on the BM6As. They are a bit more than I want to spend.

Anyone using the BM5As (without a sub) near field that can provide their opinion on how the MD sounds through them?

Mackie HR824s here and I love them. Great bass response.
I love the Sony MDR7506s as well. Even though the bass response is not incredibly accurate, they are the most comfortable headphones I have tried and I can wear them for very long periods. The ear cushions are getting very tatty on mine though!! I wonder if there are replacements. My girlfriend bought me a pair of Sony MDR-V700s and they are crap (although I'd never tell her that!). Not very comfortable and very bass heavy (I guess they are meant for DJs though).
