it really depends, more info is needed... what is your maximum budget? does it need a sequencer onboard?

future retro revolution, just as good as the bassline(i ahve owned both) but with a better sequencer interface, midi, and REMIX!!!

future retro 777, you can get really nasty with this one, although it is sought after and usually goes for more than a revolution. i like having both though

DSI Evolver great sounding digital/analog hybrid, just wasnt for me. i like the true analog stuff with knobs for everything

Studio electronics SE-1 get whichever one is in your budget, SE-1 can be had for around 700, SE-1x can be had for around 900 and the new SE-1x Nova Edition is completely awesome with feedback switch and a sine wave for even deeper bass. i have only had the SE-1 then sold it to upgrade to the SE-1x Nova Edition.

Studio Electronics ATC-X Quad this is 4 different bass filter circuits in one, with ring mod in and out, external in for filtering and midi. this is a great sounding box, i love the ARP filter

Spectral Audio, basically any of the gear they made is great for the price to be had. you can get them for under 400 bucks and they sound pretty fat, and the LFO will go into audio range for some cool effects.

Anyone have the Acidlab or the Future Retro Revolution? Have narrowed it down to these two. Looking for opinions on sound, syncing with MD, etc. Thanks.

The revolution sounds good, has a great sequencer (CV and Midi) with some cool random functions... but is kind of large.

Anyone know the price of the acidlab and where to buy one (my work blocks the translators on the internet)?

If you like a 303ish sound, but maybe with a little more oomph, the Revo is great, and met all my expectations.

Does anyone have the Acidlab bassline? I like the sounds and size, but read this which has given me some pause:

"As a little drawback the editing of a pattern is much like on the TB-303. You have to enter the write-mode and then you go through every single step. At every step you can enter note, accent, glide and octave up.

With "octave up" the note will be played one octave higher. With the write button you advance one step. This is a bit tedious.

You really have to use the pattern-sheet which you can download at the webpage. You cant step back. If you make a mistake, then you have to re-enter all notes. But under circumstance this takes you to these "erroneous" patterns which may sound better then wanted.

Editing during play is not possible"

Any current/previous owners of the AcidLab, please chime in. Also, I think you can only buy direct, correct?

The other alternative, Future Retro, sounds great and the interface seems better than the AcidLab, I just need to get over the Retro look and size.

Well...it sounds like the TB-303 programming except that you cannot move backwards... I'm going to buy one...since it is $500 and I always wanted a TB. The FR Revolution is too big for my needs...I'm running out of space. I'll keep it simple so this type of programming is fine with me. I'll let you know after I get it.

No US retailers...and they won't be in stock until April. I'm going to pay him soon so he can send me one in April. I have always wanted the Microcon and Cyclodon from Technosaurus... but those are no longer available. This is cheaper and smaller than those two together...so I'm ready to waste the cash. Plus, I always found these TB machines to be fun and easy to mess with to get good results.
