Perhaps they thought they could get away with it because it has a VCO (or at least it does now) and one other analog component. Still pretty damned scandalous though. I'd 've been steamed had I purchased an instrument under such false pretenses.

synth lite has just dco, it was falsely advertised as vco maybe just a typo or confused staff @ mfb. in my opinion synth liite sound better. ring mod etc.. slightly sketchy little units.. maybe not the best build quality but they sound good and theyre tiny! definately worth there weight!

I don't think that it was a confused staff - I think Manfred Fricke is doing all the work on his own?

The oscilators of the synthlite are completly digital - but it has a VCF and a VCA, and the VCF is neat, IMHO.

But I like the Synth II better, it's analog and sounds simply good. I always use it for bass-sounds.
And the build quality is IMHO not too bad... It's solid and stable and the potis feel nice.

I liked the look of the Fusion but for ?1450, wasn't that arsed...

But look at this:

Fusion Price Cut

DV have also got it for ?799 so I don't think it's a typo. I assume it's been similarly price cut in the US and elsewhere?

Since I've stopped using DAWs, I haven't got that varied a palette of bread-and-butter S+S type sounds. This may provide them.

Verrrry interesting... 8-)

Cheers, JS - that's a cool article! And it may explain the huge price cut. It's not often I see a UK price cut by nearly half on such a new product.

I've got so many old Akai-format sample libraries, it would certainly be lovely to load them into a hardware player...hmmmm...
