LOL, so how do you REALLY feel about Novation synths, milk?

I have read alot of reviews on the Novation and all of the user reviews on Harmony central and sonicstate... rarely does anyone say anything bad about this synth. However, I trust you guys so I'll have to think it over. The other thing is that you have to learn the hard way sometimes. Basically, I can buy it used cheap on ebay and then resell it if I hate it. The other thing is that I can put in a few extra hundred and get a virus or nord without the keyboard. Also, I have the sid and the evolver I just got and I really should just learn these for now. Ok, so I'm not exactly sane.

Between the SID and the Evo, that's plenty of synth for a while. Especially when you start processing the SID thru the Evo for creating loops and stuff.

yeah, you do not have to listen to me as the supreme being of all things Novation. Just know that in my time as a mix engineer, I have seen a lot of Novation synths played by different people on stage - I always ask people about their gear, and I have not met one person that is happy with anything novation made, except maybe the remote midi interface they have which looks nice, but probably suffers from the same build quality.

in my opinion, and the opinions of several people who own and work with the novation synths, you might want to steer clear. Its my recomendation to you - but of course you do not have to listen to me! Just note what I advised to you, and be prepared for a ginormous public "I told you so" in 2 months :-D

i have the novation remote midi controller and i love it. granted i'm not thorwing it across the stage, but it feels solid to me and i would stand by it (not on it, though).

but of course, i also thought the novation sounded cool when i played with it for a little bit, so what do i know. =P

to the og poster, jsrockit?, as someone who has suffered from gear lust for a while -- learn what you have. the new synth will only distract you from getting the most out of the devices you have, even though we all know that laying our hands on a new piece of gear is a great feeling. but getting badass sounds that you love out of the gear that you have now is an even better feeling. learn the evo and the sid, and by that time, even better things will be out (if you think you still need it).

I hear ya. Doesn't mean it infiltrated my brain but I hear ya. I was thinking the Novation would make a cool midi controller since I like a short keyboard and it is the same price as something like the X-Station. That is why I want it.

just out of curiosity - why do you like a short keyboard if you are using it as your primary controller? The 37 note and under controllers are so small, its really hard to do anything with both hands on them without running them into eachother.
