ill?

thinking about loosing the looped sample towards the end--not really in the spirit of what I was going for. the synth in an x0xb0x--recorded mostly for novelty..not sure how much it adds, if anything.

I'm not big on 4/4 dance beats...but this was kind of cool.

thanks?

just kidding. I don't listen to house--per se. I typically listen to shit that's a lot more fast, evil, and--overall--hectic. However, I recently picked up Richie Hawtin's new album, and it inspired me to give 'minimal house' a whirl. (If you've never heard his stuff, or any of his various other psuedonyms' output, please don't think that it resembles what I posted in even the slightest way--it's actually fucking amazing!)

If you can find Steve Stoll's 1998 release "Blunted Boy Wonder", you'll hear some killer minimal dancefloor music. The guy's a master. Listen to it on a really good system -- you'll hear interesting mix tricks happening in the low lows.

I was playing bass one night in a honkeytonk roadhouse, and I put this CD on before the gig to get a feel for what the PA was like. I heard great sub kicks and all sorts of stuff I hadn't heard before at home. Of course, the locals hated me and have me the hairy eyeball. But I made it up to them by playing "Gimme Three Steps" later that night.

"Blunted Boy Wonder" is an LP, but yeah, he was on Novamute. I was really into Steve Stoll, Cari Lekebusch, and Richie Hawtin for a while. Good stuff.

Haha! That reminds me of the scene in Blues Brothers where they walk into the country bar and ask em what kind of music they usually have. The bartender goes "Oh, we have both kinds, country AND western."

not too shabby. It sort of seems like a "I'm not a house guy but I felt like making some house today" type of track, though. I liked the wutang sample but it seems to drift out of time a little bit, not sure if that's intentional or not.
