lol. true. you can't use everything at once. that's just ridiculous. even w/just a couple synths you have more sounds than can fit into any given track. but once you know everything really well and what synth is good at what sounds or what tone you have in your head then you know where to go. plus i find it fun to learn different interfaces as it means i come up w/different music as a result.. but as long as you can put your fingerprint on it then that's that.

the thing w/the elektrons is they integrate easily w/whatever is already in your studio and you can get away from the computer and just jam.

Hi

My humble little corner contains:

Machinedrum SPS-1
Roland SH-101
Roland Juno-106
Alesis Ion, not too sure I like this thing, hoping to replace this with nord lead 3. For truly messed up sounds this thing is beautiful but I think it sounds a bit tinny.. bit like a recording in a toilet
Casio VL-Tone
RME Fireface 400.
Logic 8
Ableton Live 7
Reaktor 5
M-Audio Trigger finger
Behringer BCR2000
Nano patch
Yamaha APX700 semi-acoustic guitar
Pair of Adam A7 monitors.

Macbook with 4gb ram, and I'm propably the only person who hates this f*cking OSX piece of crap on this forum. I only did the switch for Logic 8.. (excuse the venting)

Gear not in use:
Yamaha DX7
Korg 01 WFD

-piece

but badloop, you didn't list toilet in your set up. . . ?

jk.

Here's what the lab contains now:

KRK v6s
RME Fireface
RME OctaMic
SM 57

Monomachine MKII
Machinedrum UW MKII
Virus TI Polar
Blofeld
MPC 1000 with JJ OS 2

Logic 8

It's nearly perfect for me. Switching to the MPC with JJ has been a revelation. No more troubleshooting like I used to when I worked on the computer to sequence. I just turn it on and go and when i'm ready I record the outs of the instruments into Logic 8 and do some mixing. Sometimes vocal recordings.

@papertiger yes the jjos is "god" among the mpc's when i first had my mpc 1000 i couldnt stand it the akai os was just plain sht, but when jj came along he made it gold. As soon as jjos2 came out for the 2500 i sold the 1000 and havent looked back since even though i have the UW MD i could never get rid of my MPC not even for a linndrum II

the mpc with the akai os was totally unuseable for me. i owned one briefly before the jj os and i hated it. it went back. had a friend who told me how bananas jj os 2 was, and i decided to give it another try. aside from the md, it's the best gear purchase i've ever made. the fact that i don't have to fight software, etc. makes me want to learn it like the sweet sweet instrument that it is. . . my precioussssss!
