listening to my top three Hip-Hop albums this year

Aesop Rock - Skelethon - if you don't like his voice but you like beats this one will serve you will (the instrumental is sold on itunes). Lyrically Aesop is probably at his finest yet still crazy with the wordplay but even through all of the heavy lyrics there is theme that is sorta easily focused on. Beat wise - Leisureforce, Cycles of Gehenna. Lyrically - Gopher Guts, Zero Dark Thirty
Dislike - Homemade Mummy, ZZZ Top (lyrics only)

El-P - Cancer 4 Cure - insane lyrically and production wise highly recommended, his best album to date. Stand out tracks beat wise - The Full Retard, Drones over Brooklyn. Lyrically Full Retard, Stay Down. Dislike - Tougher Colder Killer

Killer Mike - R.A.P Music (entirely produced by El-P) - lyrically i find it ok not because of his rhymes but the topics (political and religious topics abound) i just don't like hearing about. The production is amazing El-P style meets southern flare. The track Southern Fried is my highly beat wise because it is just confusing at first yet falls in once the drums start. Also the track Untitled is amazing beat wise (bongos, synth leads, solid bass line etc.) all make this track go hard. Dislike - Regan, Jo Jo's Chilling

I love all of them. Specially great to hear Aesop rap again. I totally dig his stuff and even his old tunes get played on a regular basis. He's the man.
And El-P is probably my favorite producer ever.

Hah, I'm rocking those three right now, too. Fantastic albums. Also looking forward to adding the new Dark Time Sunshine album into rotation when it comes out.

Stumbled across Baroness a while back, currently filing through their catalog. Really dig the Blue Record.

Fun to hear some old plastikman in that mix, but the endless white noise buildups of modern techno really get on my nerves

Been having a blast playing some new old vinyl, mostly from Drumcode/Code Red, User, Purpose Maker, Primate Recordings, Bush (Dave Clarke Red series on vinyl = heaven)

Quite a few of the tracks in that set are pretty old.
