If you wanted a chord with a 9th, like this:
C - E - G - D, or
C +4 +7 +14
that +14 is not possible. What you can do instead is this:
E - C - G - D, or
E -4 +3 +10 (EDIT: mistake corrected)
You also have the option of taking that D an octave down, like this:
C - D - E - G, or
C +2 +4 +7
and this will sound more dissonant (i.e., more pleasing
)
