Help! 12 Years, 5 Months ago
hello everyone
i need help saving my RAM machine to a ROM machine.
i know this is a pretty basic question and the answer can be found in the manual or on here.
the problem is that i researched both of those and still i come up blank.

I record my sample to a RAM machine from line in.
Play it with a RAM play machine.
Scroll over to the RAM play and/or record machine (i've tried both)
Press function + record (copy)
Copy pattern comes up on the screen
Then i go into the sample manager
Scroll down to an open slot and press function stop (paste)
nothing happens.
I've tried this a bunch of times, restarting the machine, everything.

I thought that also maybe it needed to record machine so in the kit edit menu i copied that RAM machine and it said copy machine. Once again pasting didn't work.

It seems like i'm following all directions but receiving no results.
Any suggestions?????

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

From the manual, page 71-72:

RAM TO ROM COPY

1. While in the SAMPLE MANAGER menu, move the focus to the RAM machine whose content you wish to copy and then press [FUNCTION] + [REC].

2. Choose the ROM slot you want to copy the RAM machine to and then press [FUNCTION] + [STOP]. Since you can’t undo this operation you will be asked whether you want to perform the action or not. Press [ENTER/YES] if you want to proceed with the copy operation.

3. A prompt will ask if you want to "RELOAD SAMPLES NOW?".
4. If you press the [ENTER/YES] button the content of all other RAM machines will be
erased. If you want to copy the other RAM machines as well it is very important that you
instead press the [EXIT/NO] key.
5. When you have copied all the RAM machines you can either press the [ENTER/YES]
key when being asked if you want to reload the samples, or exit the SAMPLE MANAGER.
In either way, all the RAM machines will be emptied.

From your description it seems you've copied the pattern data, not the RAM data. You need to go to the the sample manager menu to copy the RAM data.

Hope that helps

Doing this in the sample manager didn't work?

Maybe your memory is full, and the RAM you're trying to copy is larger than the ROM sample you're replacing?

Or your sample bank is locked if this is a +Drive unit. If so, go into the +Drive menu and unlock the bank or banks you need to save to.
